The 92nd National FFA Convention & Expo is Oct. 30-Nov. 2, 2019.
The deadline to apply to present a convention workshop is June 1, 2019, at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
You will be notified of the status of your application the first week in July 2019.
Teacher workshops - Classroom style: Up to 50 teachers per workshop session.
Student workshops - Classroom style: Up to 318 per workshop session.
Theater style: Up to 608 per workshop session.
Banquet style: Up to 362 per workshop session.
Seperate applications must be completed to present to both teachers and students.
High School Teacher - A current high school agriculture teacher.
Postsecondary Educator - A current educator at a postsecondary institution.
Postsecondary Staff - Those who work for a university but are not an educator.
Collegiate Student (Student Workshop Only) - Currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution.
National FFA Staff - Currently a full-time employee of the National FFA Organization. (Not a conference facilitator)
Company/Business - A person who is presenting as a representative of their company/business other than a nonprofit.
Nonprofit - A person who works for a business/company that is classified as a nonprofit.
If you are planning to attend convention with your chapter, we ask that you register and pay as planned. If you are not attending convention with your chapter, National FFA will register you for convention.
High School Teacher - National FFA will not provide travel and lodging.
If selected, companies/businesses will be invoiced $2,000 prior to convention per workshop session topic. National FFA will not provide travel and lodging but will arrange registration. Note: Being selected to present a workshop does not automatically make a company a workshops sponsor. To sponsor convention workshops, contact Staci Glaser, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Postsecondary Teacher Educator - National FFA will not provide travel and lodging. We will register you for convention unless we hear otherwise from you.
Collegiate Student - Lodging and airfare will be provided. National FFA will take care of registering you for convention. Collegiate students are expected to present a minimum of three student workshops and serve as room hosts for up to six hours total (in two to three shifts).
**Note: If for any reason you need to change your flight, you will be responsible for any fees/airfare changes. National FFA will not be responsible for additional costs above and beyond your original flight.**
Postsecondary staff - National FFA will not provide travel and lodging. We will register you for convention.
Nonprofit - National FFA will not provide travel and lodging. We will register you for convention.
Based on survey results from last year's convention, students would like workshops on animal care; addressing problems in agriculture; agribusiness; bullying issues; community service; SAE projects; diversity; time management and becoming a leader. Students like interactive activities in the workshops.
Based on survey results from last year's convention, teachers would like to see workshops on using FFA.org website; alumni tools; environmental science; animal science; strategies for motivating students; career development events and classroom management. These are just suggested topics to help you come up with your workshop topic.
The information provided here will be used in promotional materials such as online convention schedules and the convention and expo app. Note: 59 percent of students and teachers say they attend workshops because of interesting titles and the descriptions of workshops.
Workshops are 60 minutes. They are offered from 2 - 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30; 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31; and Friday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
*A student workshop will be available from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30.*
*Collegiate Students: Keep in mind that if selected, you'll be asked to serve as room hosts for up to six hours total in two to three different shifts IN ADDITION TO presenting your workshop a minimum of three times.
