The Jewish History department and Holocaust in Film classes are honoured to have been selected by the USC Shoah Foundation to attend a special screening of the film Schindler's List to commemorate the movie's 25th Anniversary. This important film is part of our course curriculum and this is a unique opportunity to watch this film on the large screen.
Schindler’s List tells the story of Oskar Schindler, a war profiteer and member of the Nazi party who saved over 1,100 Jews during World War II. The movie explores the human capacity for monumental evil as well as for extraordinary courage, caring, and compassion. It turns history into an opportunity for moral reflection.
Please note that the film is rated R and contains graphic depictions of violence, as well as profanity and nudity. We believe that Schindler’s List can provide a powerful and transformative learning experience. Be assured that we will prepare the students in advance and we will have followup discussions in the classroom after we watch the movie so that this is a meaningful experience for our students.
