Requirements of the President-elect: Serve as the Illinois delegate to the AAFP's FUTURE of Family Medicine Conference July 31 - August 2 in Kansas City (learn more about delegate role and responsibilities here). The selected resident/student will represent Illinois’ interests, attend all the required sessions and cast Illinois’ votes at the student and resident Congresses. Do not apply unless you can attend all sessions and all days of the conference.
IAFP will fund your conference registration and eligible travel expenses in accordance with our reimbursement policy.
A written report will be required to IAFP within 30 days of the conference to be posted on the IAFP website.
Student Applicants: Please also apply for the AAFP Foundation's scholarships to help with your costs to attend. For more info on the Conference, visit the AAFP FUTURE Conference website
Other Requirements: Join an IAFP committee or member interest group (if not already on one).
Can be called upon to represent Illinois residents or students at various opportunities, such as doing Zoom or in-person interviews with pre-medical or high school students interested in family medicine. The president-elect is asked to serve as a backup to the resident or student president at the IAFP board meetings (Zoom Sept 17 at 7pm and in person meeting Dec. 6, 2025 in Naperville).
