In the face of continued austerity, over-population, mass migration, global warming, and famine we are told we are past the point of prevention, and now in the era of adaptation.
So, in the face of catastrophe who might lead the way? Those on the outside and in the margins have always been the masters of adaptation – might they hold some valuable knowledge and potential solutions?
What could be the role for LGBTQIA+ artists in sorting out the shit? Is it time to re-focus, recognising that identity politics and the fight for equality is not enough in the face of global disaster? Might we all need to re-imagine a new way of living and being together; mobilising and building new communities working toward a bigger cause?
This four day intensive LAB, hosted and facilitated by Lois Weaver and Scottee will create a forum for discussion and experimentation; a supportive and radicalised space to think the unthinkable, get angry, make mess and mistakes, and explore strategies for new artworks, interventions and ways of being. It is a call to action.
Guest speakers include eco drag warrior Timberlina and Stef Dickers, Library and Archives Manager at Bishopsgate Institute.
LAB DATES: Tuesday 5th - Friday 8th March 2019
APPLICTAION DEADLINE: Monday 7th January 2019
