    • Study Title: School-Based Sensory Integration

Primary Investigators: Tara Glennon (Faculty) and Rochele Charles (Student Researcher)
    • Research Description: Hello! Are you a pediatric OT working in a school setting?

You are invited to participate in a brief survey on sensory integration therapy intervention in the school setting.

Your participation is valuable in order to understand how, when, and if school-based OT practitioners are providing sensory integration therapy intervention.

Studies reflect that the majority of pediatric occupational therapist use sensory integration therapy as an intervention for children with sensory processing disorders. Current trends show that school-based occupational therapy has a growing presence in addressing this problem area.

This survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and your responses will remain anonymous. We ask that you forward this survey to any additional pediatric school-based therapists within your professional and personal network.

    • Study Title: Differentiation and Screening for Hearing Loss and Cognitive Decline in Occupational  Therapy Practice

Primary Investigators: Taylor Clough (student researcher) & Al Yonovitz, Ph.D., CCC-A, FAAA, MAudSA (CCP)
    • Research Description: The purpose of this survey is to determine if OT practitioners in the U. S. have access to the knowledge and tools to more effectively differentiate and screen for hearing loss and cognitive decline. The premise of the project relates to when OTs administer cognitive assessments in practice, and the client is providing responses that suggest possible cognitive decline (such as dementia), is that client actually experiencing a decline in cognitive function or can they simply not hear the verbal prompts and questions of the cognitive assessment? Current OT curriculum teaches how to administer and interpret the results of cognitive assessments but does not include any type of training on how to screen for hearing loss. My project seeks to examine the current knowledge base and ways to expand it to promote comprehensive client care.

      Research Participation Deadline: 2/26/2020
