    Internship Application:

    Summer Session: June 6th - August 4th, 2019

The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is seeking applications for teen interns to serve as Teen Technology Guides, working with museum guests implementing a variety of hands on demonstrations, experiences, classes and workshops related to technologies and "making" - whether "high-tech" (computer programming, circuitry, robotics, etc.) or "low-tech" (crafting with tools, fine art, wood working, etc.).

This is a wonderful opportunity for teens to gain experience working in a professional setting, meet new people, make a positive impact on our community, and be a part of the Maker movement. The Maker movement emphasizes learning through doing, creating new things, and sharing new ideas and technologies.

There is also the chance to choose the VR Focus track. The Teen Tech electing a VR focus will work with Innovation Studios and Academy of Digital Learning staff to facilitate virtual reality experiences for Museum guests. They will be responsible for operating and evaluating VR equipment and software, as well as developing and curating new experiences. They will work both with the public and in an office.

Interns will be selected as Teen Technology Guides by museum staff based on skills in applicants' strongest subject areas (examples include: coding, circuitry, crafting, textiles, VR, etc.), guest interaction, demonstrated responsibility and fit with specific museum program needs.

The application is for the summer session only. Some applicants will be selected for phone and in-person interviews with the Innovation Studios Manager, as well as the Academy of Digital learning for the VR focus. Those who have been selected as Digital Learning Guides or Teen Technology Guides in past sessions must reapply.

Internship schedule will be arranged individually with the Studio Manager, but each intern is expected to commit to 50 hours throughout the summer session (June 6th-August 5th), typically assisting in Maker Studio which is held on Fridays & Saturdays.
