  • FRANCISCAN HERITAGE SCHOLARSHIPS are funded by an endowment started in 1982 by alumni/ae and friends of the college in the name of a Sister of St. Francis

    SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS SCHOLARSHIPS were established by the Sisters of St. Francis of Dubuque, Iowa, the founders and sponsors of Briar Cliff University. This scholarship assists students with special needs (see criteria below)

    Criteria for both scholarships include:

    • Full-time student in good standing (cumulative GPA of at least 2.0) for the entire academic year (May not apply if returning for a fifth year)
    • Financial need
    • Involvement in activities that carry on the Franciscan tradition of service, helping to make a difference in others' lives.

    Additional criteria for Sisters of St. Francis Scholarships includes one or more of the following:

    • minority student
    • international student
    • person experiencing social disadvantage (a single parent, income falling under the poverty guidelines, etc.)

  • Not all scholarships require a letter of recommendation. However, for those that do, failure to submit a letter(s) of recommendation will prevent you from being awarded the scholarship(s).

  • Franciscan Scholarship

    Letter should be from a BCU employee familiar with your academic work or your work outside of class. Your recommender can pick up this form from Sister Janet May.
