The Outstanding Women of Northern Kentucky Awards (OWNK) were established in 1984 by the late Nancy Janes Boothe, wife of then-NKU President Leon E. Boothe. In the spring of the following year, the first OWNK luncheon was held. At the first awards celebration, five women were honored. Since then, more than 200 women have been recognized for blazing trails, opening doors, demonstrating leadership in their homes, their professions, their communities, and the region.
The NKY Chamber of Commerce Women's Initiative Outstanding Women of NKY Awards (OWNK) are sponsored by St. Elizabeth Healthcare. The presenting sponsor is PNC and education partners include Toyota, Gateway Community & Technical College, Northern Kentucky University and Thomas More University.
Award Description:
The Outstanding Women of Northern Kentucky Awards celebrate women who work, live or volunteer in NKY. They exemplify notable achievement, outstanding service in their professions or to the NKY community, the qualities of personal integrity, perseverance, leadership and represent the region’s diversity and extraordinary accomplishments.

• Open to all women who work, live or volunteer in Northern Kentucky.
• Throughout the years, the OWNK awards consisted of different categories. All the women who have received an award in the past are considered Outstanding Women. Therefore, they aren't eligible to receive another award in a different category.
