Scrapie Law
- By the new scrapie law, all animals will be required to either have a Permanent ID either with your herd tattoo (by an approved USDA registry) or have a scrapie tag or microchip.
- If breeder has a herd tattoo assigned by a USDA approved registry, then the tattoo in the baby's ear is the tattoo of the breeder if the baby is born on breeder's property
- If the baby is born on your property then the tattoo is the tattoo of your farm
- If using scrapie tag, then preferably the scrapie tag is for breeder's farm.
- If breeder has no scrapie tag or herd tattoo, then the scrapie tag can be the owner's.
