Organization Volunteer Intake
San Diego Migrant Shelter
About the Shelter
Many of the people detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement over the past several months are now being released. They are being dropped off on San Diego’s streets with no travel plans to reach their US sponsors, no money, and no resources. Many local organizations mobilized to help and are now running an emergency shelter to provide food, clothes, a safe place to sleep, and assistance traveling to their families across the U.S. Roughly 90 people stay in the shelter each night. Keeping the shelter open is a team effort, fueled by countless volunteers. Thank you for your interest in joining the team! We are currently coordinating volunteers for many roles, including: helping with intake and travel arrangements, organizing donations, maintenance, and child care, among others. If your organization is interested in joining the shelter volunteer team, on an ongoing basis, for a a day, a weekend, a week, or longer, please complete this form and we will reach out to you shortly to discuss the details. We look forward to connecting with you soon.
