ALOHA AND WELCOME!
HERE IS ALL THE CAMP INFORMATION:
It is time for the 7th annual Camp Merveilles Hawaii on the Northern tip of the Big Island. We are excited to be in our fourth year at the fabulous Kohala Institute at I'ole on 2,400 acres of pristine Hawaiian land. Their mission is to provide opportunities for the people to connect with the land and universal values for a better world. We are happy to have this location be the home to Camp Merveilles Hawaii, as we are committed to sharing Guinea and Hawaiian cultures; honoring the diversity and similarities of both, coming together to learn, play, share and grow!
The facilities are state of the art with Hawaiian touches and a staff full of aloha! There are ample places for hikes, serene walks and relaxation, as well as Hawaiian Loi's (taro patches) and educational gardens on site. You have opportunity to explore this incredible land, connecting with the richness of Hawaii, while also sharing and learning the rich culture of Guinea.
This year's conference features Guinea artists: Gabriel Fara Tolno, Marietou Camara, Fode Bangoura, Naby Bangoura, Mohamed Lamine Bangoura, Soriba Fofana, Etienne Tolno and Rujeko Dumbutshena from Zimbabwe.
We will be utilizing the Grace Center for Education at the Kohala Institute and the grounds include; a fabulous dining hall, indoor spaces with beautiful wood floors for both dance and drum classes, dorm buildings and 4 person cabins with choice of single or double beds.
Camp begins Friday with class at 4pm and ends on Tuesday with the last class finished at 3:30pm. .
PLEASE NOTE: THIS FACILITY IS COMPRISED OF HISTORICAL BUILDINGS THAT HAVE BEEN NEWLY RENOVATED! We were the first to stay here two years ago and everyone loved the facilities and the quality of the accommodations and all spaces. 2018 did not dissapoint either! The facilities are top notch, with beautiful wood floors for dance classes, well done cozy accommodations in either a cabin or dorm, wonderful kitchen facilites and incredible grounds to enjoy!
In addition, the food is AWESOME! Our fabulous Lavaroots team in Hawaii sources food from local farms offering a bounty of fresh Hawaiian fruits and vegetables. We offer both a meat (no pork) and vegan option and implement sustainable practices to be as zero waste as possible! We can't wait to feed you amazing cuisine by our fabulous Chef!

We do our very best to offer the lowest price possible, and can only offer the prices below due to Kissidugu and Lavaroots fundraising efforts that subsidize the conference.
