To apply for a student representative position on a Texas Medical Association board, council, or committee, complete this application by April 15.
Appointments last one year, and you must re-apply if you wish to continue serving in the position.
Responsibilities of Student Representatives/Alternates to TMA Boards, Councils, and Committees
1. Student representatives/alternates are required to attend all regular meetings of the board, council or committee to which they are appointed. Most meet three times annually during Winter Conference in January/February, TexMed in April/May, and Fall Conference in September/October. The TMA staff contact will send you additional information regarding your meeting schedule and agendas.
2. Student representatives/alternates are asked to review the agenda sent prior to the meeting to be prepared to discuss the items and actively participate in the meeting.
3. Student representatives are full voting members. Therefore, it is important for the student to fully exercise that opportunity and for the alternate representative to be present to fill in during an absence and/or aid the representative on how best to speak in the interest of medical students.
4. The boards, councils, and committees depend on your participation and attendance to reach a quorum. Therefore, we ask that you attend at minimum, two of the three meetings during your appointment year.
