Illinois Park District Internship Scholarship
Dr. Dan Yoder was a professor in the Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration (RPTA) program for 24 years, beginning in 1994. Prior to joining WIU, Dr. Yoder served in capacities in youth leadership, outdoor recreation and parks administration. He was actively involved in the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association as well as the National Parks and Recreation Association. Dr. Yoder was an educator, mentor and expert in the field. Sheryl Yoder was a mental health counselor who helped thousands of young people over her 30 year career. Both believed in giving back to the organizations and communities that gave them so much. Dr. Yoder, and his wife Sheryl, were advocates for experiential learning in the form of internships and recognized their value in preparing the future leaders in the parks and recreation field.
