The Texas Education Agency is accepting public comments related to the proposed 2019-2020 Industry Based Certification List for Public School Accountability. To help ensure Texas students are prepared for in-demand, high-skill, high-wage careers, the Texas Education Agency has engaged with members of the workforce to help identify industry-based certifications that are recognized and valued within industry sectors. Over 1,300 unique certifications were recommended by stakeholders for consideration in the industry-based certification review process.
The first step in the review process included employers from across Texas completing an industry-based certification survey by answering a value question. Industry-based certifications that met the industry valued definition were then evaluated on criteria including third-party provider, capstone, attainable by high school students, and portability.
