Denison Art Space in Newark is a gateway to the arts and to connecting surrounding communities by providing a collaborative environment centered on culture, arts, and creative expression.

Juror of Esteem: Tyler Cann, Curator of Contemporary Art, Columbus Museum of Art (CMA)

Since 2015, Cann is responsible for growth in CMA’s contemporary art program, including acquisitions, exhibitions, publications, and programs. Prior to being hired at CMA in 2013, Cann was a curator at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, England, and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery in New Zealand. He completed his undergraduate studies in Art History at UC-Berkeley and holds a master’s degree in History of Art and Architecture from Harvard University.

Important Dates:

Feb 21st - Deadline for submission
Feb 22nd to Mar 3rd - Jurying process
Mar 4th - Acceptance notices sent
Mar 10th 10am-2pm; Mar 11th 10am-2pm and 4-6pm - Artwork drop-off
Mar 15th to Apr 16th - Exhibition dates
Mar 22nd - Opening reception from 6-8pm
Apr 17th 10am-3pm - Artwork pick-up

How to apply:

Read and understand and agree to The Fine Print (below).
Complete the entry form in full.
Submit up to three (3) entries in digital format before the deadline

Image Guidelines:

Only digital images and video will be accepted for consideration.
Accepted file formats for images are JPEG, JPG or TIFF.
Images should be formatted so the longest side is set at 1920 pixels and the resolution is 300 dpi. Please save images at the highest quality setting to ensure clear viewing of your work.
File names for all images should match the following: " artist_title of work_01.jpg" , where " artist " is replaced with your first initial / last name and " 01 " is replaced with the appropriate entry number. Detail shots should be labeled " artist_title of work_detail.jpg"

The Fine Print

Submission of an entry form shall constitute complete agreement on the part of the Artist to the terms and conditions set forth.

Eligibility:

You must be a current Ohio Art League member to submit
Only online form entries will be accepted
Artists may enter only their original work - NO reproductions
Artwork must have been completed in the last four (4) years
Artists may enter up to three (3) pieces

All artwork selected for the exhibition must remain as part of the exhibit for the duration of the show

Artwork condition and size limitations:

Hanging work must be wired and ready to install , and the size may not exceed 45’'x 45’' or 60 lbs (including frame).
Glass or plexiglass must be used over water media, drawings, pastels, prints, photographs and 2-D mixed media artworks
OAL and the Gallery Director will have the final decision regarding proper artwork condition, display location of each piece, and appropriateness for a family-friendly space
Perishable items, or artworks with hazardous components, will not be accepted

Image Submission:

All entries will be judged from digital images submitted on-line
Please submit ONE image for each of your entries

OAL Policies:

Accepted artists grant permission for OAL to use images of their work for promotional purposes
Price your work with the understanding that OAL will accept 30% of the sales price as a donation
OAL reserves the right to refuse to display any accepted work for any reason. At the request of the exhibition location, work must be suitable for all ages
No work previously exhibited in any OAL or OAL-sponsored show should be submitted
Works altered from the submitted digital images will not be accepted.
All reasonable care will be exercised by OAL and its agents, but OAL and its agents are not liable for loss or damage of work in its care nor during transport
