The Berks Career & Technology Center Internship Program is designed to provide students with a rich learning experience while providing an earned wage. The program will provide a student, at the conclusion of his/her junior year at Berks Career & Technology Center, with an 8-week paid summer internship with a local business. Selected students will be guaranteed to earn at least a fair wage ($7.25/hour) via a local company and an additional $1200.00 stipend upon successful completion of the program. Students are required to provide their own transportation to/from work. Students will be selected based upon review process which includes a completed application, instructor recommendation, and interview. Students will be required to have parent/guardian permission to ultimately confirm selection into the internship program.
Continued funding of this program for future students will greatly depend upon the success of the students currently in the program. If you do not have reliable transportation and/or are not serious about showing up for work every day, learning, and working hard, please do not pursue this opportunity. Any student planning to be absent from work will be required to contact the employer before the start of the work day. Any absence three days in length will require a note from your doctor to return to work. Excessive absence will result in the loss of the stipend and possible removal from the program.
