Below is an example of nomination from the 2018 finalists.
Bri Phillips - Nominated by Tony Aponte, cHc Fabricating
As a young lady that started in the Union Ironworking business right out of high school, Bri has come a long way in her career. She is the type that loves to learn something new everyday on the job site. She always is asking questions, from how to lay out the steel to be installed, to how the safest way to do a new task is. She has been a star in the Union Ironworker apprentice program that is a male dominated trade, she also competed and took first place at the Union Ironworker Local 44 Apprentice competition. Bri has achieved numerous welding and training certifications in the countless hours of classroom training, in the past three and a half years as an apprentice Ironworker. Besides being a joy to work with, Bri is a team member that is irreplaceable. Her skills do not end with her work, she also has a warm, cheerful attitude to our customers.
We highly recommend Shakiyla Phillips for the Skilled Trades Award, as she has made a great asset to our organization and the industry.
