Before completing this application, please be aware of the following:
- Applicants must read and agree to our Adoption Policies.
- All applicants will be interviewed by an MLRR Home Visit Volunteer prior to approval.
- Please note that the current wait can be up to six months, based on your requirements for age, gender and color.
- MLRR accepts Adoption Applications from adopters that reside in the Chicago Metropolitan Area, defined by the following counties:

Out-of-area applications will be considered on a case by case basis. Please note that if approved, the entire family, including resident dogs will need to travel to the Chicago area to pick up their Labrador and finalize the adoption. In-area applications will be considered before out-of-area applications for puppies or other dogs needing post adoption veterinary care paid for by MLRR.

Medical and Training
All of our dogs are checked over very thoroughly by our vet and any medical issues that arise in foster care will be taken care of. However, some medical issues are still being addressed at the time of adoption. Transitioning a rescue Lab into your home takes months or even longer. A rescue dog will have training and behavior issues that you will need to address after adoption. As you've read, MLRR policies require enrollment in a basic skills/manners dog training class (or private session) within 30 days after adoption.
