ALL APPLICANTS will be required to have a criminal history check, driving record check, medical exam, drug screen and psychological evaluation (all required by law to attend the police academy). The cost for these are the applicant's responsibility and typically runs $200 - $300 dollars or more. It is important to understand that if not selected for attendance within six (6) months, the documents expire.
Acceptance to the program is a competitive process with a limited number of available spots. Officers hired by local police departments and sent to the academy are always given first priority for acceptance. We encourage all applicants to seek employment with an agency to facilitate a more expeditious path for attendance.
All applicants to the Basic Peace Officer Course must meet special admission requirements as established by the Hill College Police Academy and its Advisory Committee.
All applicants must be 21 years of age before completion of the academy. Applicants must meet minimum requirements for licensing. For more information see http://www.tcole.texas.gov/content/commission-rules Applicants must complete the Application Packet provided later in the process. Applicants under 22 years of age must show proff of Bacterial Meningites vaccination.
