  • The ad rate for most classified categories is $0.45 (USD) per character (including punctuation and spaces). A discounted rate of $0.38 (USD) per character applies to Anniversaries, Birthdays, Obituaries, Denominational and Classical Announcements, and Congregational Announcements.

    There is a minimum charge of 150 characters for all ads and approximately 50 characters per line.


  • Thanks for your interest in submitting a classified obituary for a CRC pastor. If your loved one was an ordained minister of the Word in the CRC, and not withdrawn or deposed, The Banner also runs an In Memoriam column for such pastors. You, or the contact on file with the CRC's yearbook office, can expect to hear from our column writer as they prepare this column to recognize the life and ministry of this pastor. You may still submit a classified obituary of your own choosing. The two are not the same. 

    If your loved one was a commissioned pastor in the CRC, The Banner also values the contribution of these pastors. While they are not included in the In Memoriam column (because the office of commissioned pastor is called and ordained by the individual classis and there is no central notification process to inform when one of these servants has died), we offer instead to print a classified obituary (of up to 500 characters or 350 characters with a photo) for free. If you wish to have an obituary longer than that, you may pay the difference. Please continue to submit your obituary and when you reach the end when entering your billing information, in the box that says "If you have any special comments about your ad, enter them here," type "CP500." The person who will process your invoice will know to discount this ad because it is for a commissioned pastor.

In addition, where third party service providers are utilized to complete your request (e.g. payment processing) their respective privacy policies will also apply.
