As poverty remains high and the poor and their vulnerability to disaster, climate change and armed conflict increases; there is a pronounced need to develop change agents in society. SEDPI intends to create a pool of development associates who will engage with the private sector, public sector, civil society and other development actors to achieve sustainable development goals.
SEDPI Group (SG) is a group of social enterprises which envisions economic empowerment among marginalized sectors.
- Social Enterprise Development Partnerships, Inc. (SEDPI) established in 2004 is a training, research and consulting organization specializing on microfinance, social entrepreneurship, financial education, disaster risk management and climate change adaptation.
- SEDPI Development Finance, Inc. (SDFI) established in 2008 provides innovative financing schemes support growth and expansion of microfinance institutions and social enterprises
- SEDPI Social Enterprise Ventures, Inc. (SSEVI) established in 2012 mobilizes investments from social investors around the world.
- SEDPI Foundation, Inc. (SFI) established in 2013 develops social investors and social entrepreneurs through partnerships with volunteer organizations, government, academe and the private sector.
- SEDPI Land, Inc. (SLI) develops disaster-proof and climate-adapted socialized mass housing
Objective:
- Contribute to the achievement of sustainable development goals through social development workers who are empowered to engage the private sector, public sector, civil society and other development actors
- Create a community of social development workers who share expertise and choose to cooperate for the achievement of sustainable development goals
- Provide job opportunities and venue for collaboration among social development workers
Program Design:
- Social development workers could either sign up as a subject matter expert or a participant to join the community of SEDPI development associates
- Subject matter experts volunteer their time to provide capacity building interventions to development associates
- Development associates share the cost for capacity building interventions they receive
- SEDPI will facilitate the conduct of capacity building interventions; defray cost when budget is available; and establish partnerships with civil society, academe, private and public sectors
- Subject matter experts and social development workers get the chance to be a SEDPI development associate
- SEDPI will bid for projects from international development organizations and government to provide job opportunity and venue for collaboration among successful SEDPI development associates
