The idea for a holiday celebration in Redwood City was formulated back in 1939 in the minds of Ole Olson, a car dealer, Walt Maloney, a butcher, and Charles Holt, a real estate agent. They felt that people shouldn't have to leave town to celebrate the Fourth of July, America's most important holiday. This was the beginning of what is now known as the Peninsula Celebration Association.
Parade Route: One mile – downtown Redwood City
Anticipated Attendance: 20,000
Parade entries: Required to be entertaining, creative, and exciting. We welcome bands, floats, drill teams, dance teams, equestrians, comical groups, military units, etc. Think out of the box! We can help you with ideas. Spectators want to be entertained and they will remember a unique, fun, entertaining entry.
Please read parade guidelines. Respond early to be considered for placement in our parade. Parade organizers will approve applicants. Notification of acceptance will be emailed.
