Dartmouth Angels Startup Showcase
Application to Present
Overview:
The Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship is launching a new initiative called Dartmouth Angels, in an effort to better connect alumni angel investors to our growing numbers of startups with a Dartmouth founder (as a student, facutly, staff or alumni member). The goal is to provide a resource for early stage funding and mentoring to our startup community. As part of our program, we will be holding an initial event, Dartmouth Angels Startup Showcase, on Thursday, April 25, 2019 in Hanover at the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship, to provide three (3) Dartmouth affiliated startups a chance to pitch to a live and virtual audience of attendees.
Eligibility Criteria:
In an effort to encourage a competitive selection of mature startups, we have organized a series of suggested eligibility criteria:
- At least one team member is a Dartmouth affiliated student, alumnus, faculty, researcher or staff member who plays a primary role in the startup, defined as a member of the founding team and as a significant equity holder, if equity has been distributed. A Dartmouth affiliated team member MUST be the one who applies and MUST be present at all judging rounds.
- Anticipated funding round should be at least $250k and no more than $3 million, with at least $100k open to new investors, with all investors in the round investing at the same valuation and terms.
- Entity valuation or valuation cap targets should be no more than $7 million pre-money
- Company must be a regular US company, not a partnership or foreign entity.
Evaluation areas:
1. Strength of the team
2. Size and growth of the market
3. Quality of the product or service (value proposition)
4. Credibility of the business model and a sustainable competitive advantage
5. Clear definition of an action plan for the term (objectives vs. timeline)
6. Team commitment to learn and execute
Required items to apply:
All submissions must include a one-page executive summary and a pitch deck (20 slides or less, excluding cover and appendix). It is recommended that presentations cover market, value proposition and product, competition, financials (financing needs, projections), timeline and team (disclosing Dartmouth affiliation is required).
Submission format: Please submit as a single .pdf file with both the executive summary and the pitch deck included.
A primary contact person for each team must be identified and must be a Dartmouth affiliated team member.
Contest entrants understand that the contest is a public competition and that no information disclosed by them will be kept confidential. Further, entrants give permission to Dartmouth College to use the materials they submit for educational or marketing purposes.

Monday, April 8, 2019: Applications are due at 11:59am EST (Late applications or applications in progress will not be accepted. Please ensure you allow sufficient time to complete the application before the deadline!)
