    Your health and well-being are very important to us. Because of this, every volunteer and staff member serving with Metro Ministries is required to have valid health insurance coverage for the entire duration of their stay in Costa Rica.Having appropriate insurance helps provide peace of mind and ensures that you are protected in case of an unexpected illness, accident, or medical emergency during your time serving with us.Before coming to Costa Rica, we kindly ask each volunteer to confirm that their insurance is active and provides adequate coverage for medical care, hospitalization, and emergencies. For those traveling from abroad, we also recommend choosing a policy that includes accident coverage and medical evacuation, when available.

  • We want to make all volunteers aware that Metro Ministries Costa Rica has a strict ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY regarding alcohol and smoking. All volunteers are expected to follow this policy throughout their time serving with us. We greatly appreciate your understanding and commitment to helping us maintain a safe, respectful, and healthy environment for everyone.

  • Metro Ministries has a ZERO-TOLERANCE POLICY for any form of sexual abuse, exploitation, or inappropriate behavior involving children. We are deeply committed to providing a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for every child and family we serve.

    For this reason, all volunteers are required to follow Metro Ministries’ Child Protection Policy, which outlines clear guidelines and standards of conduct to help protect children and prevent any form of abuse or misconduct. In addition, every volunteer is required to sign the Metro Ministries Code of Conduct, which reinforces these commitments and ensures that everyone understands their role and responsibility in protecting vulnerable children.

    These guidelines are in place not only to protect the children in our care, but also to foster a culture of trust, respect, integrity, and accountability throughout the ministry.

  • Information about your stay during your volunteer service at Metro Ministries

    Metro Ministries volunteers can stay together when they are all male, in accommodation provided by Metro Ministries. We also have affiliated churches that have fully equipped rooms available to host our volunteers, as well as local host families who can provide accommodation. All of these options are available at a low monthly cost, allowing volunteers to have a safe, comfortable, and affordable place to stay while serving with Metro Ministries.
