    Authorising BPC & Independent Energy to find you the best possible energy deal
  • This Letter of Authority grants Break Point Consulting (BPC) & Independent Energy Limited the ability to access information regarding the energy consumption of the client as named and authorised below. The information to be disclosed includes previous accounts, contracts and usage data.
    By granting this authority the client is also granting BPC & Independent Energy Limited the authority to seek pricing and other related information for the entity as listed below. This Letter of Authority does not allow BPC or Independent Energy Limited to make any changes to current billing arrangements. This Letter of Authority will remain valid for twelve months from the date of agreement.

  • Who are we?

    Independent Energy is a nationwide energy management business based in Palmerston North. We manage over 2,000 commercial and education sites across New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. Break Point Consulting is an agent of IE, operating in Auckland and Northland.

    What do we do?

    We work with organisations to save them money on their electricity, gas, petrol and diesel costs. Our services include:

    • Account analysis, recommendation and management
    • Energy use assessments and reduction plans
    • Energy efficiency upgrades

    How do we start?

    All our relationships start by assessing the current state of your energy accounts and identifying opportunities to reduce cost through better purchasing. The process is as follows:

    1. You provide us with a copy of your current energy account(s) and/ or your signed permission to access your account information.

    2. Our analysis team take your energy load to market, seeking offers from all available suppliers. We manage over $100 million in energy so have significant advantage in obtaining best market prices.

    3. We will present our findings through a written proposal. Should you wish to proceed and realise the savings we have identified we will ask you to sign an agreement with us to manage your account on your behalf. You will always be billed by and pay your energy retailer directly.

    If you accept our proposal we charge a subscription fee of 5% of your yearly energy spend on an annual basis.

    NB: This fee has been taken into account in our savings calculation, which is shown as net savings to you

    We offer a money back guarantee on our savings projections.

    What happens after you sign?

    Once we have received your signed proposal we will then manage all changes from your existing energy retailers to the new providers on your behalf. We will keep you updated as each step is completed and your energy supply will not be affected.

    From then on, each and every month, we receive your bill and check to make sure you are being charged correctly. We will fix any issues and then email the account to you for payment.

    Once we have your energy purchasing sorted we will visit your site(s) and draw up an energy management plan with you outlining what other opportunities there are to further reduce managing your energy consumption and costs. At all stages we work on a risk and reward model. We only charge fees where we can identify and realise savings.
