A resolution is the vehicle used to convey to the House of Delegates (HOD or House) of the Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) a proposal from an individual, a component or specialty society, or a section on a particular subject. The traditional format is comprised of two parts: (1) statements beginning with “Whereas” that usually include the introductory facts or circumstances and (2) the formal conclusion (known as the “Resolved”).
A resolution may be authored by any PAMED member, but it must be introduced by a voting delegate to the 2020 House of Delegates If you are not a voting delegate, please reach out to your County Medical Society to discuss submitting the resolution.
Voting delegates may submit a resolution either as an individual, or on behalf of their county medical society, specialty society, or section – the Residents and Fellows Section, Medical Students Section, Early Career Physicians Section, International Medical Graduates Section, or Women Physicians Section. Any resolution submitted on behalf of a specialty, section, or county medical society will require the endorsement of the entity prior to submission.
When submitting a resolution:
1) Do not reaffirm existing PAMED policy
2) Do not reaffirm existing AMA policy - refer to the Resolution 101 Fact Sheet for guidelines
3) Include key information, including fiscal note and reference materials, with your resolution
All resolutions must be submitted via this form by
