We gave you the opportunity to nominate investors for a brand new category at this year's India Awards for best engagement by an institutional investor. For this award we received entries that recognised investors who proactively seek to understand a company's business model and regularly engage with IR and senior management.

This category is unique, as the winner isn't chosen by a panel of judges, instead it is voted for by you - the investor relations community.

Below are the brief descriptions explaining why each investor was nominated.
Ajay Khandelwal, BOI AXA Mutual Fund - Ajay has been nominated due to the continuous discussions and focus on companies meeting guidance in the context of the prevailing business environment. BOI AXA Investment Managers have shown an interest in the company operations and regularly attend plant visits organized for investors and analysts.Kaushal Maroo, DSP Investment Managers (DSP Mutual Fund) - Kaushal Maroo and the team at DSP ensured that they completely understand the company business models through regular interaction and strong contact, not just during the plant visit but also through meetings with the finance head and managing director.Janakiraman Rengaraju, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund - Janakiraman has been put forward due because of Franklin Templeton MF’s desire to understand far beyond the business model, but the industry opportunity and company strategy. Regular engagement between the companies management team, CFO and Janakiraman has led to a good understanding on the opportunities of the sector.Chirag Setalvad, HDFC Mutual Fund - Through Chirag’s engagements and consistent communication with the company HDFC Mutual Fund have ensured that they fully understand the various aspects of the business verticals that the company operate under, providing a clear understanding of business models and strategies.Arpit Kapoor, IDFC Mutual Fund - In a time-scale of two years Arpit Kapoor has regularly engaged IR and senior management through conferences, roadshows, one-on-one meetings, plant visits to name a few formats. To follow up, Arpit has engaged senior management and promoters through consequent rounds of meetings.Pankaj Tibrewal, Kotak Mutual Fund - Pankaj has been in regular discussions with management, the CFO and also the promoter. Pankaj and the Kotak MF actively participate in plant visits to gain a detailed understanding on the companies.Soumendra Nath Lahiri, L&T Mutual Fund - Soumendra Nath Lahiri at L&T Mutual Funds has been nominated thanks to continuous communication during challenging times for the company, and taking an interest in understanding the fundamental drivers behind company growth such as strength of relationships with global and domestic companies and changes to the sales strategy or range of products.Samir Rachh, Reliance Mutual Fund - Long-term engagement is one of the reasons that Samir Rachh from Reliance Mutual Fund was nominated for this award. Over the course of six years, Samir has met with IR and the CFO to learn about manufacturing capabilities and deepen their understanding in all aspects of the company by meeting with the relevant business heads. This has been followed up with meetings between the reliance mutual fund CIO and the managing director of the company.Sanjeev Patkar, SBI AIF part of SBI Mutual Fund - Sanjeev regularly meets with the company to understand business model strengths and how the company evolves to stay ahead of the competition. These engagements and understanding of the business have been showcased by SBI remaining in the companies share register.Krishna Kumar, Sundaram Mutual Fund - Sundaram MF were responsive to the IR and networking strategy implemented by the company, Krishakumar is now one of the largest shareholders having met with the company to understand all aspects of the business model, including marketing and design strengths. Sudaram went further by arranging their buildings material analyst to visit their plant.
