Field Trip Co-Chairs
This committee works with grade-level teachers to coordinate and support the 6th, 7th and 8th grade class trips, which typically take place in spring. Check in with the lead teachers in the Fall. They will contact you to help organize and get chaperones for each of the field trips.
8th grade also includes the end-of-year celebration that happens the last week of school and in the past has been at Shady Springs.
Review the Treasurer books/records at the end of the school year for compliance. Give guidance for tax preparations.
Chair of Chairs
Oversee all of the KMAG committees and serve as a conduit of information among the individual committees, the Magnet staff/admin and the KMAG Board; Archive all committee documents to our google drive
AISD Choice Fair
The AISD Choice Fair is typically 1st Saturday in December and parents and staff/teachers have a few tables at the fair. Help organize parents to go talk about Kealing.
Book People Fundraiser
Coordinate with Magnet Director and teachers in May to determine reading lists for the upcoming school year. Coordinate with Book People in May to order copies of the books and to designate a week or two in early September for the books to be purchased (on site at BookPeople) with a percentage of the cost being donated to KMAG.
KMAG raises funds to support classroom and extracurricular academic activities. Time commitment is 4-6 weeks at the beginning of school. An annual no hassle fundraising letter is distributed to the Kealing community. Parents are welcome to explore other fundraising opportunities throughout the year.
New Parent Receptions
Host receptions for incoming parents, and help with student registration two Saturdays usually in April.
Help the magnet director organize the recruiting roadshows by getting a few volunteers to help at each one.
Shadowing Co-Chairs and Team Members
Students applying to Kealing may shadow to experience what a Kealing school day is like. The Shadowing chairs support the Kealing Magnet office by setting the schedule of visitors. The job is largely done online and takes place in January/February. The Shadowing team/wranglers helps with the day-to-day activities of checking in/out shadowing students. Positions include 4 Shadowing Co-Chairs (1 scheduling shadows, 1 scheduling hosts, 1 morning head wrangler, 1 afternoon head wrangler) and then team members who sign up for either morning or afternoon wrangling shifts.
This committee supports Kealing’s public outreach at the Magnet Showcase (in the past has been in November) and would get volunteers to help setup, work the event and cleanup.
