Mount Bethel Poodles breeds standard and on rare occasion miniature poodles at this time only. Poodle sizes are separated into 3 varieties by the AKC. In conformation competition each variety competes with their respective size catgory (a.k.a. variety). All three varieties are still one breed...Poodle. We follow the breed standard set forth by the American Kennel Club for size which categorizes size by toy (less than 10 inches at the shoulder), Miniature (10 to 15 inches), and Standard (15 inches and over).

'Moyen' or 'klein' sized poodles are typically a cross between a standard and miniature poodle. Crossing the varieties can lead to irregularities in size and loss of conformation.

We breed standard and miniature poodles only at this time. We follow the breed standard set forth by the American Kennel Club for size. The terms "royal" and 'tea cup" are used to market poodles of extreme size by commercial breeders not following the breed standard. Extremely small can lead to frailties, abnormalities, and health issues. Extremely large are prone to torsion and other health issues.

Our vet, Dr Sanders, is a convntional veterinarian. He is open to other kinds of veterinary practices which make sense. We love him and his staff for their 'open minded' approach. Thankfully Dr Sanders' practice is privately owned and their practice is not dictated by a pharmaceutical company. I am so blessed to have access to his expertise. -Darcy

At Mount Bethel Poodles we love to see our poodles shown and for our excellent lines to carry on. The majority of our puppies go to pet homes with a pet spay/neuter agreement. We take the responsibility of breeding very seriously. If you would like to breed we can co-own your poodle until it has a title and has all it's health testing. We seek to improve the poodle breed in conformation, performance, and health. We believe breeding a poodle to any breed other than poodle to be contrary to good conscientious breeding practices. If you would like to breed poodles we can encourage and assist you in your endeavor as long as your practices align with these core values.
