If you're interested in volunteering, please read the brief descriptions below of upcoming opportunities and complete the form. Please note that a preliminary telephone interview is required for all volunteer placements.
Submissions for spring/summer 2019 volunteer opportunities will be accepted through February 1st. All submissions received after February 1st will be considered for fall 2019 volunteer opportunities.
Available Volunteer Opportunities:
Admissions events for prospective and admitted students - The New School meets prospective and admitted students throughout the year at various on-campus and off-campus events around the globe. Share your insights by speaking with prospective students one-on-one or in groups at local, regional, and international college fairs; open houses; and gatherings for admitted students.
Academic events and opportunities - Alumni can often share their vast knowledge and expertise by serving in an academic capacity. Volunteer as a guest classroom speaker or adjudicator for various academic competitions and symposia throughout the year. Volunteer positions for this opportunity will vary based on school and University programming.
Available Mentoring Opportunities:
Academic mentorship opportunities - Interested in working closely with a current student from your program or one who is interested in exploring your professional industry? Opportunities for mentorship pairings are being considered for the Spring 2019 term in specific programs across the University. This opportunity requires that mentors meet in-person or Skype at least once during the Spring semester and remain in contact with the Alumni Engagement office for follow-up. Please note that mentorship spots for this opportunity are limited based on the number of participating students.
Parsons E-Lab opportunities - Are you a Parsons alum with a minimum of 10 years of professional market experience and business success? Volunteer to work with Parsons Entrepreneurial Lab students and fellows on their journey to becoming entrepreneurs.
Impact Entrepreneurship opportunities - If you're a seasoned entrepreneur or have considerable experience in social impact efforts, consider mentoring with one of our impact entrepreneurship initiatives. We are looking for mentors from varied industries and diverse backgrounds who can engage with upcoming student entrepreneurs both inside and outside the classroom. Ideally, mentors for these initiatives are able to work with students for a one semester to two-year commitment.
