Please take a few minutes to read through and complete this with a parent. You will need your Bible. We have this agreement because in James 3:1 (please read) God's Word tells us that those who serve in ministry, especially those who lead or teach, are held to a higher standard.
I, as a member of the Body of Christ, joyfully and wholeheartedly choose to surrender my life to the will of Jesus Christ as expressed in the Bible, God's Word.
As a member of the ministry team at ICC:
-
Please Read Romans 14
-
I understand that nobody respects a hypocrite. I my ministry at ICC I will not act one way in church and another way outside of church. I willingly choose to avoid/not participate in any activity or behavior that would dishonor the name of Jesus and/or might cause a fellow believer (or potential believer) to stumble.
-
I accept the Word of God as the absolute standard for the way I should present myself, interact with others, speak and react, and for all moral and ethical values. I am in full agreement with the
Doctrinal Statement
of ICC (attached below). Also, for the sake of consistency and order, I understand that the Scriptures, as interpreted by our Pastors, will be the final authority on matters concerning conduct for the volunteers of the church.
-
Please read II Timothy 2:20-21
-
I understand from reading this verse that God uses clean instruments. I choose to commit myself to a blameless way of life, even being careful of what comes out of my mouth, so that I cannot be associated with even the appearance of evil.
-
To make the greatest impact for the Kingdom of God, I will remain teachable and voluntarily give up any personal habits or practices which my spiritual leaders would consider inappropriate or "in the way" of my ministry for the Lord.
-
Should I mess up on any of these commitments, or have questions about how my behavior or choices relate to this Volunteer Agreement, I will ask a Pastor or the leader of my ministry team for input and guidance.
I have read and understood this document.
