Any licensed general contractor, specialty contractor, or construction manager member of the Metro Washington or Virginia Chapters of ABC may enter. Subcontractors acting as the general contractor on the project entered are also eligible. A fee of $399 is required with each entry in each category. You may pay by credit card after the form is completed.
Number of Entries
There is no limit to the number of entries per member or in any one category. A project may be entered in more than one category. Clearly specify and remit payment for each project in each category entered.
Eligible projects must have been completed between January 1, 2019 and June 1, 2020. Judging teams reserve the right to disqualify projects that are deemed incomplete. Previously entered and judged projects are not eligible. Projects deemed incomplete are ineligible for a refund of the entry fee.
Projects submitted must be located in the District of Columbia; the Maryland counties of Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George’s; or the Virginia counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Stafford and the cities within.
All trade categories entered must be self-performed by the company entering the project.
Any project on which there was a work-related fatality is not eligible.
A company that experienced a safety-related fatality of an employee within two and three years of the current program year is required to provide additional information regarding action that has been taken following the fatality.
If the company is not STEP certified:
- you must include your OSHA Form 300 and OSHA Form 300A for the year the submitted project was under construction.

No project is eligible that was subject to a requirement that contractors enter into agreement(s) with any labor organization as a condition of performing work.
