• Invasive Species Removal at Chapel Island

  • Join the James River Association as a volunteer to remove invasive plant species and restore habitat on Richmond's Chapel Island. Volunteers will learn about invasive plant species and how to properly remove them during their volunteer experience.

Volunteers have been removing invasive plants and restoring the island's health since 2014 as part of the James River Park System Invasive Plant Task Force. Founded in 2015, the James River Park System Invasive Plant Task Force is a volunteer effort to foster a thriving park ecosystem through invasive plant species management, restoration of native plant communities, public awareness and citizen involvement.

Chapel Island is accessible via Richmond's Great Shiplock Park, located at 2803 Dock Street, Richmond, Virginia.
