We at the Global Coalition on Youth Mental Health are getting ready for this year’s G7 by continuing last year’s efforts to make mental health a priority worldwide. We hope you will sign on to the attached letter that we will deliver to the leadership of the G7.
France is hosting the G7 Leaders’ Summit in 2019, focusing on five official themes around reducing inequality in:
- Opportunity: promoting in particular gender equality, access to education and high-quality health services;
- The Environment: protecting our planet through climate finance and a fair ecological transition, based on preserving biodiversity and the oceans;
- Global Economy: promoting more fair and equitable trade, tax and development policies;
- Security: taking action for peace, against security threats and terrorism which weaken the foundations of our societies;
- Technology: tapping into the opportunities created by digital technology and artificial intelligence in an ethical and human-oriented way.
We believe that mental health, particularly youth mental health, is inextricably linked with these goals. In correlation with the Coalition’s efforts in 2018, G7 leadership recognized mental health as a global issue that needs to be addressed. It’s time to hold G7 leadership to that commitment with the attached ‘Letter of Support.’ We are seeking to secure signatures from organizations and individuals worldwide.
Declare your support for global youth mental health by adding your organization or name to the 2019 G7 Letter of Support.
