About the Workshop: Learn the basics of Python, a widely-used and general-purpose programming language. Beginners are encouraged to attend - this is a GENTLE introduction and no prior programming experience is required. Technical topic include: variables and data types, arrays, dictionaries, operators, conditions, loops, functions, Classes/Objects, modules, Packages, Libraries and File I/O. Concepts will be applied in a real-world application example - data manipulation using packages (Pandas, matplotlib). Please bring your own laptop for hands-on exercises.
Date: May 30, 2019, 1:00-4:00pm. (Please arrive by 12:45pm to confirm software configuration and to ensure a prompt start time)
Location: 850D Baldwin Hall (CEAS Library classroom), University of Cincinnati's main campus. Directions to CEAS Library (Note: Parking in the nearby Woodside Garage is at cost)
Registration cost: $15 for Special Libraries Association members and $30 for non-members. Registration deadline is 12 noon on Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
Please pay by cash or check (payable to SLA Cincinnati Chapter) on the day of the workshop. A receipt can be provided at the door.
