The Dennis Schapiro Innovation in Montessori Teacher Education Award is presented to a member of the Montessori teacher education community who has brought about significant change.
Dennis Schapiro was an innovator who wasn't afraid to work for and bring about change. Catherine McTamaney, author and education lecturer at Vanderbilt University, shared “Denny pushed us to think beyond our sphere . . . reconciling our visions of Montessori.”
Have you or a colleague brought about significant change in Montessori teacher education? If so, please submit a nomination for the Dennis Schapiro Innovation in Montessori Teacher Education Award. To submit a nomination, please write a short (one page) narrative that targets one or more of the innovation parameters:
- developing an innovative approach to Montessori teacher education
- addressing a specific need in Montessori teacher education
- taking advantage of a new opportunity
- removing barriers and/or broadening the reach of international education
- evidence of candidate performance with which the program makes its case in their Self-Study (must include a variety of measures)
- cooperation and collaboration with other Montessori teacher education programs/institutions
