  • Healing Process and Aftercare

After you get tattooed, I am going to wrap you up with and absorbent pad and grip tape. You will leave your tattoo covered for the first 24 hours, avoid getting it wet during this time. You are now literally recovering from skin art surgery! Take it easy, eat, keep yourself hydrated, get good sleep and avoid heavy partying/drugs. Avoid intense workout, excessive movement, sun, swimming and saunas for now. It's normal for your tattoo to be sore and a little swollen. After taking the bandage off wash really well, take your time to gently remove plasma, ink and blood residue. It might take a couple minutes to gently get rid of that slimey film of plasma that sits above your tattoo. Use natural/uncented/alcohol-free liquid soap. Wash until your tattoo doesn't feel slimey anymore by removing the film that sits on top. You have to be on top of that, cleaning plasma and dead skin away! After washing, let it air dry as much as possible, your tattoo should never be healing in a wet environment. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day for the first 3-5 days. Avoid friction with clothes, bed or other surfaces. The most important thing is to get rid of that plasma and dead skin! Don't pick at it or scratch it. If the plasma is not properly removed then it will dry creating a scab, making it more painful and slower to heal. If the scab is big, the color underneath might become less pigmented. Bodies are not perfect and there's many factors that can affect the pigmentation/ texture of the skin during the healing process. My expertise plus a good aftercare will allow your tattoo to heal properly. If you have any concerns please write me an email. Always open for touch ups if you need one! Just ask and we can figure it out :)
