Dan Mackerman will teach a nocturne oil painting workshop while sharing his experience exploring the effects gained from different panel surfaces. Panel and medium samples for experimentation will be provided.
"Years ago I developed a turpentine allergy which led me on a quest to paint in oils without solvents. In my search to eliminate the use of solvents, I learned how much surface (ground) affects the performance of paint, the need for mediums, the brushwork and the final look of the painting itself."
This workshop will consist of two parts: first, looking at the toys: variety of brushes and surfaces, both commercial and homemade and second, taking them out for a spin. It'll be like an artist’s Tupperware party in the dark!
What to bring:
Bring your paint box, brushes, a surface to paint on and... a light!
