What Constitutes an Announcement?
Announcements are short-lived, brief notices of interest to a broad segment of our audience: all employees, most students, etc.
Announcements give information which people need to know or describe activities in which many people might wish to participate. Announcements typically appear on the top web page for only a day or two and maybe bumped in less than a day by more recent announcements.
The announcement should not describe an event. Information about events should be submitted to the events calendar.
The information which requires more than a couple of paragraphs to explain should be suggested to our News Bureau for possible release to the news media.
