DESIRING TO BE PART OF SURFING THE NATIONS, ITS OUTREACHES AND PROGRAMS, MEANS YOU:

Are a person committed to a servant lifestyle at all times.

Understand what it means to live a community lifestyle.

Are willing to be flexible and serve in various roles and activities.

Communicate effectively with leadership and other staff within the organization, accept and apply critiques and suggestions to daily work in an effort to become more productive and/or efficient.

Communicate with leaders and staff on any issues that may affect performance of assigned responsibilities.

Understand that Surfing The Nations is not responsible for personal items at any times during your stay.

Understand that STN executive leadership reserves the right to remove anyone from any programs and/or outreaches at any time.

Are willing to attend and participate in all meetings, service projects and property events.

Will demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, which includes arriving on time for designated work, notifying your leaders of any deviations in the established schedule, and dressing to the standards of the organization and work being performed.

Respect the organization’s reporting structure and follow the policies and procedures of the organization.

Understand that harassment in any form, including sexual harassment will not be tolerated at STN. This behavior may include using explicit language, gestures, graphics, verbal or nonverbal suggestions and subtle or overt threats.

Know that if at any time a student is made to feel uncomfortable by others, he/she should report the incident to a member of the staff and leadership immediately. Action cannot be taken if the incident goes unreported.

Will uphold this code of conduct and act in an ethical manner when on- and off-property and while representing STN.

If you are in a season of life where you are in need of or undergoing any kind of medical treatment or counseling related to your mental health, for any kind of substance abuse, or thoughts of self- harm, you must understand STN, its programs, staff, and facilities are not designed for or qualified to meet your special needs. We do not provide medical or mental health treatment. We are not qualified to identify, diagnose, or assess these special needs in individuals. Our programs involve rigorous physical, mental, and emotional activity and are not suitable for individuals who are not presently able or inclined to deliver high levels of stability and effort in all three of these domains.

Non-Permissable Activities

WHILE INVOLVED WITH SURFING THE NATIONS IN ANY CAPACITY, THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES ARE NOT PERMISSIBLE:
Smoking
Using tobacco products (including e-cigarettes, juul, and vapes)
Consuming alcoholic/liquor beverages including kava
Using illegal drugs
Using, carrying and owning weapons
Immoral sexual conduct
Vulgar language
Internet pornography and related materials
Getting new tattoos or piercings

By submitting this application, applicants understand and agree to comply with the mentioned Policies and Contract while they are connected with STN. They also agree to uphold the standards of STN by not engaging in any of the non-permissible activities listed above.

Payment Policy
Unless otherwise stated:
Payment of application fee is required for initiation of application processing, and is non-refundable.
Remainder of all payments must be paid two weeks prior to arrival.
All payments must be made in US currency.
All personal expenses incurred while involved with Surfing The Nations are the responsibility of the individual and not the organization.
Program fees cover: curriculum program costs, activities and housing.
Fees do NOT cover: food, personal care, laundry, medical fees, study materials.
Fees are not tax deductible.

Refund Policy
All program fees are non-refundable once a participant begins their program.

Acknowledgement of Financial Responsibility
By paying the acceptance fee, applicants agree to the following:

Media Consent

I hereby consent to the participation in interviews, the use of quotes, and the taking of photographs or videos. I also grant Surfing The Nations the right to edit, use, and reuse said products for nonprofit purposes including use in print, on the internet, and all other forms of media. I also hereby release Surfing The Nations its agents, partners and volunteers from all claims, demands, and liabilities whatsoever in connection with the above.

Termination of Involvement

Surfing The Nations reserves the right to terminate any volunteer's involvement with this organization if they are found to have misrepresented themselves in their application, or if their conduct is detrimental to the good running of STN’s programs and outreaches, or the reputation of STN. By submitting this application, applicants understand and accept the terms and conditions set out by the organization.

Upon submitting your application, you will receive a confirmation email which includes a link to your Character Reference Form. Please foward this link to whoever will be giving you a reference on behalf of your character.

You should receive a response from STN Registrar in regards to your acceptance within two weeks of submitting your application.
