Black Rock City Repertory Theatre is a theatre company created for Burners, by Burners.
We exist to give our city's citizens an opportunity to hear stories in a live and immediate fashion.
We exist for storytellers to express themselves in a present and creative way.
We exist for you.
Camping with a theme camp is not a requirement for attending Burning Man. It is merely a way for a group of individuals to come together under a shared goal to offer something to the city at large.
The primary focus of our camp is the theatre. Without the theatre, we would not have a camp, we would not receive Advanced Placement, nor would we receive access to Directed Group Sales tickets.
Like most other camps, we have Camp Dues. For 2019, those Camp Dues are $300. But unlike most other camps, our Camp Dues go almost exclusively towards the costs of producing the plays we present at Burning Man.
There are specific costumes and props to purchase, lighting and sound elements to rent or buy, the theatre needs to be built, upkept, and upgraded from the previous year, and it all needs to be transported 1,300 miles.
Since our camp is so young, and since our primary focus is the theatre, we have to encourage Radical Self-Reliance for our members. But our camp does have a few amenities to be shared with camp members:
- Appropriately sized kitchen and cooking area
- Communal shade area
- 10 gallons of personal water per camper
- Zero gray water shower
- Generator for charging and powering of electrical devices
- A wonderfully central location in the city, right behind the Esplanade
- Access to Shipping Program
- Access to Last Minute Communal Shopping Program
- Access to LA storage during the year
