  • Agreement to Support College of Ministry Core Themes and Values

  • The College of Ministry builds upon the Educational Goals of the University expressed in the Core Curriculum requirements and the Biblical Studies Core. We recognize that all truth is God’s truth and that persons discover truth by reason, by scientific and aesthetic inquiry, and by revelation. The College of Ministry affirms that the Bible is God’s unique written revelation, and that the knowledge of biblical truth is the foundation of every genuine search for truth.

From a Pentecostal perspective that embraces the mission of Jesus announced in Luke 4, the College of Ministry values:

    1. Biblical Exposition: the ability to interpret the Scriptures;
    2. Theological Understanding: the ability to articulate the teachings of Christianity; and
    3. Ministry Competence: the ability to practice biblical ministry.

The College of Ministry desires that all its graduates be persons who demonstrate a continuing interest in lifelong learning, and in the ability to apply truth to life; approach their own spiritual lives contemplatively and reflectively; and express a genuine connection to and a caring for the world.

  • Prior to acceptance to a vocation ministry major in the COM, we will be requesting from the State of Washington a criminal background check to comply with the policies of RCW 43.43.830 through 43.43.845.  A signed disclosure statement is required from each applicant before a check is conducted.  Each applicant must disclose to Northwest University College of Ministry the following information:

  • I understand that before I am admitted to the Northwest University College of Ministry, a criminal background check will be done. I understand that the College of Ministry must receive a satisfactory criminal background check from the Washington State Patrol in order for me to be admitted to a major in the COM. If my background check reveals any sort of criminal record, my case will be further reviewed and the College of Ministry may accept or deny my application according to the nature of the crime and my spiritual progress.

I give permission for the criminal background check to take place and if admitted to the College of Ministry, I agree that the results of this background check may be released to appropriate denominational, agency and church leaderships at which I may have ministry opportunities and experiences. I certify under penalty of perjury that the above information is true and correct to the best of my knowledge.

  • Transportation

  • As a College of Ministry student you will be involved in an internship and will most likely be serving in a local church.

Most transportation to and from field learning experiences is by means of carpooling in students' own vehicles and under their own insurance coverage. If you do not have plans to have a personal vehicle, be aware that you will still be responsible for your own transportation to and from most internship and field visitation sites.

I have read and understand the above statements regarding my transportation responsibility.

  • Acknowledgement of Travel Requirement

  • All incoming COM students are required to participate in an international travel experience for completion of their major.

Students are highly encouraged to participate during or before their Junior year, as the trip will always take place at the beginning of summer.

Students will not graduate from the program if they have not completed the required international tour.

Students will ensure that they will have a valid passport at the time of the travel experience.

Travels fees apply and will be charged to your student account.

Travel destination is subject to change each school year.

Travel destination may be to a country that has a US Dept. of State Travel Warning in place.

Students who are not US citizens are responsible for obtaining their own visa and notifying the COM of your status. The International Student Advisor is available to assist the student in these matters.

Students are expected to abide by NU lifestyle policies and any other behavior expectations set in place by the COM while travelling.

I have read and agree to the travel requirement policies as listed above and fully acknowledge that I must participate in the COM travel experience in order to graduate from the program.
