Picture book manuscripts that are fiction must be under 800 words (preferably around 500), and nonfiction manuscripts must be under 1000 words (you may include backmatter, and it will not count toward your word count). Illustration notes do not count toward your word count. If you're submitting a chapter book, please submit the full manuscript. Author-illustrators, you may attach a dummy, but please keep it under 15 MB and 72 dpi.
