Charitable Home Furnishings Program Policies

Please review the policy below before proceeding. 

 

Furniture is provided through a request-granting basis only. Families may not request furniture for themselves; all requests must come from a sponsoring social service, educational, or medical organization that is currently working the family to benefit from this donation.  This organization will work as the only communication between Becker Furniture Charities and the family. We will not contact the family directly for any reason. All requests must be received on the Becker Furniture Charities’ Charitable Home Furnishings Program request form on our website: http://beckerfurnitureworld.com/p/donation. These requests should completely communicate the exact need, how the family will benefit from this potential donation, as well as an action plan demonstrating the steps or objectives being worked on with the family encouraging self-sufficiency (if applicable). Requests are looked at on a case by case basis.

 

Due to overwhelming need, requests are limited in the amount of furniture and should be focused on the family’s highest needs. Full and twin beds are provided; no king or queen beds are available. Beds include a mattress, foundation and frame; no headboard or footboard. Agencies can be limited to six requests per year and are limited to one request per family. We will not be responsible for any damaged goods and will not replace any furniture after it leaves our warehouse. No returns of any kind will be accepted.

 

The agency and family must work together to arrange pick up of approved donations within two weeks of notification. Delivery is available if needed for a fee and must be paid for by the family or agency. The delivery fee is based on the delivery address. After the fourteen day pickup window has expired the furniture will be returned to our stock and granted to another family. Extensions may be given but prior notice is required as well as an exact pick up date.

 

Decision making on each request may take up to 4 weeks. Please be patient with us as every request must be looked at and individually approved.

 

Please note, Becker Furniture Charities cannot refer families to agencies just for furniture assistance.  If families are not working with any type of assistance program we recommend that they call a local church or other social service agency to see what may be available to them.
