Phase 2, Part 3/3: Health/Safety Audit, Faculty Led Travel Course

Health/Safety Audit

Primary Faculty Leaders must complete a full Health/Safety Audit of the location(s) of travel. The Center for Global Education will review the audit and offer feedback as needed. Faculty and the CGE are responsible to keep up with current events in country through course completion.
All Faculty Led Travel Courses are supported by InternationalSOS for medical and travel security situations. The Simmons University policy number is 11BCAS810511.

The CGE recommends that Primary Faculty Leaders call InternationalSOS and request a full medical and saftey report for the locations of travel. These reports may take up to 72 hours as they are not an emergency situation. The policy number will be referenced to begin the report.
This Audit must be signed by the desingated college Dean by August 1.

Differences of religion, cultural norms, local traditions and political attitudes can present challenges that may affect students' health and safety while traveling abroad. What cultural features have you identified that may have this impact? For example - criminalization of homosexuality. If approved, Faculty are responsible to address steps to mitigate the impact of the features described below. *
We recognize that accessibility varies by country. Are their any physical/mobility requirements for participation in this travel course? Are their possible adjustments for students who do not meet these requirements? *

Electronic Signature

The Health/Safety Audit requires electronic signature from the Primary Faculty Leader and designated college Dean to complete submission. The Audit will be reviewed by the Education Abroad Council once submitted.
The Health and Saftey Audit requires both a signature from the Primary Faculty Course Leader and a signature from the appropriate designated college Dean. The process for signature is as follows:
1. Faculty will electronically sign and submit below
2. Once submitted, a report will automatically be generated with the above information and emailed to cge@simmons.edu
3. The CGE staff will email the completed Audit in a document form to faculty
4. Faculty will have the approprate Dean sign off on the Audit
Please return the signed document to the CGE by May 15.
