Volunteers are valued at Smoky Mountain Children’s Home (SMCH) as additional resources who enhance programs, and help provide non-formal services for the children/youth (ages 11-18) and families served by SMCH. Volunteers offer support in any area of SMCH where there are identified needs. Volunteers do not supplant SMCH staff in providing services but contribute to the agency through offering their distinct talents, skills, and resources. Volunteers may be classified as either a regular volunteer (more than 5 days a year) or an occasional volunteer (less than 5 days a year). All volunteers are required to be at least 18 years old and are required to pass background clearance.
**Immediate or extended relatives of the children/youth who are at SMCH will not be allowed to serve as a volunteer. Relatives are defined as parents, siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, or grandparents.
