Mountain Scholars is a program designed by community leaders committed to supporting first-generation, academically motivated students with financial need in earning a four-year college degree or postsecondary certificate by providing both financial and academic support.
What is expected of Mountain Scholar students?
- First generation (neither parent has completed a four year degree)
- Local to Summit County (2+ years in the county and established in the community)
- Enrolled at Colorado Mountain College (CMC) for year 1-2
- College 101 course taken in first fall semester
- Acheive and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA or higher for Associate level classes, and a minimum 2.5 GPA for Bachelor level classes
- Meet with community mentor one-on-one at least once a month
- Provide updates and set goals with mentor and CMC Pathways Coordinator
- Attend spring workshop with mentor
- Have plans to enroll in a partnering four-year program at CMC or a college/university
