The Oregon Bio 2019 annual event, held on October 29, 2019 at the World Trade Center Portland Auditorium, offers local researchers and entrepreneurs a forum to share their exciting bioscience developments. This event features the Company Pitch Fest, Research Fast Pitch and Workforce Engagement Station.
The Research Fast Pitch is a showcase designed for basic and applied researchers to share their work in a unique format—with precisely timed, three minute, automatically advancing, six-slide presentations. This event offers participants the opportunity to share their work with the broader bioscience community. Researchers and scientists -- including high school students, undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, research associates -- are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must be researchers at research institutions (including undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, research associates) or high school students working on bioscience research projects.
The research fast pitch is only for students and early career research associates and post docs. If you run a research lab, please nominate one of your students and have them apply. If you are an established researcher or Primary Investigator, consider applying for the Company Pitch Fest (also occurs during the Oct 29th conference).
Finalists will be selected by the Research Fast Pitch Selection Committee based on the clarity of their application, their research quality and the potential impact of their work. Finalists will be notified by October 7th. See below for important dates.
Finalists must be able to attend the Research Fast Pitch training as well as a run-through session. A virtual training session will be available for researchers outside of the Portland metro area.
All selected presenters will receive in-depth fast pitch training as well as complimentary admission to Oregon Bio 2019. Selected presenters under 21 years will have a second ticket for a guardian to attend with them. Selected finalists will also have their work showcased in the event guide and on the Oregon Bio website. One grand prize winner and a peoples choice winner will be announced at the end of the show.
*Reviewers will be blinded to individual names, institutions, and photos included in this application.
