Amirah's program is designed to serve U.S. biological women over the age of 18.
Who can fill out this application?: You may decide to self-refer to Amirah and complete the application by yourself. You may also choose to have a trusted third party/referring agency refer you to Amirah, complete the application on your behalf, and work with you throughout the application process.
Incarceration: Amirah does accept referrals directly from incarceration if a woman has completed her sentence. However, participation in the Amirah program cannot be made a condition of probation or parole. If participation in a residential program is a condition of probation or parole, we recommend you seek a half-way house or some other form of post-incarceration care. Amirah will provide transportation to and from probation/parole visits in the state of Massachusetts only, but can assist with virtual probation/parole meetings.
Psychiatric Inpatient: We do not take referrals directly from psychiatric inpatient units as we do not have 24/7 clinical staffing available. If a referral comes from a psychiatric inpatient unit, applicants will need to be discharged to a step down agency and demonstrate a period of clinical stabilization before acceptance into Amirah will be considered.
Medical Inpatient: We do not take referrals directly from medical inpatient as we do not have any medical staff available in the home. If a referral comes from a medical inpatient unit, applicants will need to be discharged to a step-down agency and demonstrate a period of medical stabilization before acceptance into Amirah will be considered. Additionally, due to confidentiality, homecare/visiting nursing agencies are unable to enter the home or be aware of its location.
Animals: We do not permit animals of any kind including but not limited to: pets, emotional support animals, and/or service animals.
