Brit - A Covenant for the 8th & 9th Grade Alternative Winter Break
As a participant on the 8th & 9th Grade Alternative Winter Break, it is expected that your attendance and participation on the trip will be exemplars of Judaism’s highest ideals. In accordance with these ideals, the following are our specific guidelines and expectations. Failure to meet these expectations could result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from the program.
I. Attendance and Participation
It is expected that you will be present – physically, emotionally, and spiritually – at all activities and meals on the trip. You are an ambassador of our community. While at the hotel, you will sleep in your assigned rooms. No outside guests or visitors are allowed in your rooms. There is no tolerance for any alcohol, drugs, or smoking while participating on the trip. If you are discovered with any of these, you will be sent home at your own expense. Please also utilize the safe in your hotel rooms to protect your valuables. We will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items. It is required that you stay with us throughout your time and not travel anywhere alone without prior written consent. Social media must be used responsibly throughout the trip, and phones must be put away during formal programming time.
II. Meals and Expenses
Transportation, hotel accommodations, activity costs, and meals have been covered for the trip at no expense to you. You can bring some spending money for snacks and souvenirs.
III. Lessons Learned
Upon your return from the trip, you will be asked to prepare a written statement about your experience on the trip as a way to further inspire future participation in the 8th & 9th Grade Alternative Winter Break.
The success of your role on the 8th & 9th Grade Houston Jewish Community-Wide Alternative Winter Break depends on you. By signing this Brit, you agree to comply fully with the expectations and requirements set forth herein.
